James J. Grady (b. 11/77) grew up in Warwick, RI. He earned his BFA in Digital Media/Photography from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. As an undergraduate student, James interned in Burlington, VT and Napa, CA with his mentor, Todd DePerno. In 1999, James accepted a position at kor group, a leading strategic branding and design firm in Boston, MA. James worked at kor group for eleven years and became a leading member of their senior creative team. During the summer of 2011, James worked with Ben Fry at Fathom Information Design on interactive media and data visualization. James’ work has been recognized by HOW, Print, Graphis, American Corporate Identity, and CASE. As an MFA candidate, James' thesis will investigate everyday observations and recontextualize them into a design that creates a didactic experience. In his free time, James enjoys spending time with his wife Christina and is the proud father of Joyce Johnson Grady born August 3, 2011.
