I am a professional with a very diverse set of interests in addtion to my career, mostly focused on the arts. I have been a black and white medium format photographer for years, now shooting color as well (digitally). Oddly, my mother has a Masters in video, yet I am only now drawn to it. I also build electric guitars (see customstratocaster.com) and run a blog that is mostly color photography (see jamesmsims.com).

Truly, I am a beginner in video/film shooting and production. Thankfully I am very competent with technology and photography, so I at least have some skills that are applicable. I love imagery and music, so video is a wondeful confluence of those forms of experssion, together, yielding countless possibilities.

Much of the mainstream film being produced at this point is fomulaic and predictable, having been designed for the optimal market pentetration, that I find them generally lacking as an art form. Vimeo is an especially great vehicle for all sorts of video artists to fully express themselves and keep the art aspect alive.
