Brought up on boxing, gambling and brawling pubs writer/director James Ward Breen brings his unexpected nexus of experience to his voice as a director.
James began his career in the film industry working as an assistant director on award winning short films and music videos for artists including Josh Pyke and Andy Bull.
In 2008 James was awarded the NSW State Medal from Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE where he also wrote and directed the short film JAILBIRD which screened at the St Kilda Film and Melbourne Underground Film Festivals the following year.
In 2010 James’ photographic exhibition MODERN DAY CHINA was held at the TAP Gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney. He also studied with international author and directing coach Judith Weston in her Los Angeles studio.
In 2011 his feature FALLS CREEK is undergoing the Screen NSW Aurora Script Development program, and his experimental short film EYE screened at the Gaffa Gallery in Sydney.
