Jason Matzner is a Los Angeles-based film director.
Jason's debut feature DREAMLAND premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. A coming-of-age drama starring Agnes Bruckner, Kelli Garner, Justin Long, John Corbett, and Gina Gershon, DREAMLAND played at film festivals worldwide and was distributed by Sony.
DREAMLAND earned Jason a Best Director award at the Method Fest Film Festival, as well Best Female Lead for Bruckner and Garner, and Best Supporting Actor for Corbett.
Jason also directs fashion films, music videos, commercials, and other short-form pieces. He has shot videos and live concerts for national artists in the rock, alternative, and pop genres. Jason has also directed commercials, PSAs, and promos. His fashion film FURTHER, which he directed, shot, and edited for menswear line CLADE, won Best Cinematography at the 2012 La Jolla Intl Fashion Film Festival.
Jason has simultaneously pursued a career in feature development. He has worked since 1998 as a story analyst for Universal Pictures, where he has developed major motion pictures such as THE BOURNE IDENTITY franchise, JARHEAD, CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR, and GREEN ZONE, amongst many others.
Jason studied at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, earning a B.A. in Film Studies. He supplemented this with additional work in film production at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
Jason is also a musician and a fine-art still photographer.
