If the price of the handle is too expensive for you, then by all means go pick up Swandle. All this thing is good for is holding the camera (not well thought out) , not to mention its made out of cheap plastic that flexes and only secures your camera in one place.

Here's a tip, If you're trying to money, hopefully you'll be spending it on the right thing (good quality glass for your dslr)

I had it clamped with my mini Mathews cardellini clamp. Or just handheld? not sure which I did?

You did, you just watched a video:)
I know what you mean it's alway's nice to play with things first before you buy them, I've played with a few rigs and a lot of them just feel cheap, and horribly thought out. Most of them think all you need is a handle, but didn't think about how easy it is, to shake the handle as well as the camera. Of course I don't want my footage to look shaky so that's why our rig has the different weights in the back to counter balance your camera, etc...
