Catherine Lee, a partner at Extraordinary Words, first began exploring poetry as a percussive voice with jazz musicians at a loft performance space she organized in Boston, MA in 1978. Among her successful performances were joint musical readings with her mentor, the late Ted Joans, in 1986-87. Trained in graphic design, and a former custom textbook project manager, Cathy's print output is largely via personally creating altered artist chapbooks in signed, numbered, limited editions. Since relocating to San Antonio, TX, Cathy has read often at various poetry venues, as well as sessioned with musicians. Because working with carefully selected music amplifies her poetic content, Cathy now records some projects in collaboration with other creative souls and e-publishes these videos here at VIMEO.
