The beaches I don't like are the crowded ones ... Dewey, Rehoboth, OC... Not what we're used to...

I'm in South Chesapeake City a couple of blocks from the C&D Canal. One brother is on the Bohemia a few miles down 213 from me and other two and parents are in Delaware. We make Emerald Isle our annual full family vacation.

Emerald Isle is still mainly single family cottages. It's built up more than it was in the 70s when our family was still living down there, but it's still our favorite place to go. I'm 42 and I have pictures of me on the same beach when I was 2, if that says anything. The addition of the real grocery store and a couple of restaurants was nice. Our extended family (I've got three brothers) goes every year. We all live in Maryland and Delaware now but these beaches aren't real beaches up here. This year we rented one cottage on the oceanfront and one on the soundfront. It was the first time we had done that and it really gave us the best of both worlds. ... We've never stayed in Corrolla but I've heard good things about it.
