J’ MARTIN
THE NEW BACHATA MUSIC SENSATION
J’ Martin, the new Bachata pop sensation is ready to capture and connect with Latin music lovers around the world. Born in Queens, New York to Dominican parents, he moved back to Santiago, Dominican Republic during the very impressionable teenage years. There he tapped into a culture rich in music. Surrounded by a family full of musicians and dancers, J’ Martin’s passion for music began to emerge. Typical native sounds such as Perico Ripiao, Ballads and “Cabaret” Bachata began shaping his musical talents. Bachatas, which were well known to be songs about passion, romanticism, theft, bar brawls and revenge, were later refined. J’ Martin’s new sound and style is “Bachata Pop.”
J’ Martin was influenced by legendary artists Teodoro Reyes, Anthony Santos, Luis Vargas, Raulin, Frank Reyes and, most recently, Aventura.
J’ Martin was front man of the merengue band “Baby Band” during its existence from 1994 to 1998. He was then recruited to be part of the popular bands Banda Soberbia, Ricky Castro, Oro Solido. Having inherited his musical talent and business sense from his parents, J’ Martin is combining both to reach his ultimate goal of bringing his music, his personal style and his message to the world.
His first album entitled “Para Ti” (For You) is scheduled to be released during the spring of 2010 and will include his debut single “Intentalo” (Try It Again). The album, which is produced by super producer MATETRAXX (Aventura, T.K.A. KRS-1, Proyecto Uno), consists of Bachata Pop songs containing two of J’ Martin’s own compositions: “Me Voy Triste” (I’m Sadly Leaving) and “No Soy Tu Tipo” (I’m Not Your Type).
J’ Martin’s single is currently receiving air play on Spanish Broadcasting System’s New York flagship station, Mega 97.9
FM, during the legendary Polito Vega weekend show, “Salsa con Polito”, reaching over half a million listeners. (Dec.
2009) It was highlighted on New York’s #1 Spanish language radio show, “El Vacilón de la Mañana.” (Mega 97.9 FM, Dec.
2009) It has been programmed on SBS’s Miami radio property, El Zol 95.7 FM. It is currently being played on more than
10 radio stations along the Eastern Coast of the U.S. Billboard ranked it in the top 40 on its “Latin Tropical” airplay list.

and on “El Show de Ramon Anibal” on the Dominican Republic’s TV network, Supercanal, internationally, during 2009.
Most recently, J’ Martin was invited to perform at New York’s “Navidad Pal Pueblo,” a Christmas concert, hosted by Frederic “El Pacha” Martinez, alongside three legendary Latin musical talents: Johnny Ventura, Conjunto Quisqueya, and Milly Quezada. He feels honored and overwhelmed by the invitation. The concert will take place at the United Palace Theater in Manhattan on December 20, 2009. In addition to local dates, J’ Martin anticipates having national and international appearances throughout 2010.
When asked how he feels about the rise of his musical career, J’ Martin, a spiritual man, credits God for allowing him to travel on this journey: “our destiny is written, we just have to follow it.”
