I moved to Portland, Oregon from Scotland in the mid-1990s after graduating from Glasgow School of Art with a concentration in drawing and painting. A few years after I moved to the US I began to experiment artistically with crochet. In 2006, using a crochet hook and yarn, I began to create a large scale cityscape of Portland. At the same time I began a series of larger than life crocheted portraits of coworkers and friends. To date I have completed over 30 crocheted works including cityscapes, portraits of local people, Multnomah County Jail mug shots, and commissioned work. My website is johamiltonart.com
