Johannes Gees is a visual and conceptual artist based in Zurich, Switzerland.

He first studied ethnology and history at the University of Zurich, then became a musician at the age of 21 and founded bands such as KURT, SARAH RÖBEN and SCUBA DIVERS, performing numerous concerts and producing records and CD’s. At the same time he started painting, but gave it up after a brief period. From 1985 – 1999 Gees worked as a picture editor, graphic designer, internet developer and curator.

1999 he decided to return to the arts. With his first art project, HELLOMRPRESIDENT, he gained international acclaim. After a brief period during which he worked for the Swiss National Exhibition Expo.02 as a curator, he returned to doing public art projects, performances, exhibitions and lectures around the world.
