SPACE BOY is the first short film project from John Quarrell. It was produced by his own production company Qproductions Multimedia Ltd. SPACE BOY is an ambitious first film involving six different locations, a large cast, green screen filming and a 7-year-old lead actor.
John has worked across film, theatre, TV, and live events since finishing university in 2001. His first feature film experience came in 2004/5 on Aardmans production of “Wallace & Gromit Curse of the Were-rabbit” which was Shot on 35mm film. John started as a camera trainee before moving up to a Camera Assistant.
As well as stop motion John moved into filming and editing corporate videos, and mixing multi-camera live events. In 2009 he set up Qproductions Multimedia Ltd, which supplies audio visual and video production services across the UK.
In recent years John has worked on Aardman’s latest feature film “Pirates In An Adventure with Scientists”, directed by Peter Lord; as well as Wallace and Gromit Proms, BBC 1’s Casualty and commercials for Google and McDonalds.
With this array of technical and production knowledge John felt that it was about time he put his cinematic visions to the test by making his first short film SPACE BOY.
