“This is Dr Feelgood 2.0 - a powerhouse outfit firing on all cylinders, blisteringly confident.”
Rock ‘n’ Reel Magazine
UK vocalist and guitarist Jon Amor, formerly of award-winning British band The Hoax, has joined forces with Dave Doherty (guitar), Chris Doherty (bass) and Simon Small (drums) to form Jon Amor Blues Group. Drawing inspiration from the Blues greats of the past like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, as well as contemporary acts like The Black Keys and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the group's sound is powerful and raw, and has been opening doors for them across Europe ever since their debut album was released.
Amor returns to his collaborative roots with JABG. The band’s chemistry & showmanship both on record and on stage is receiving critical acclaim both abroad & here in the UK. The guitar-playing, which brought Amor to prominence with his first band during the nineties, and fresh energy of JABG is captivating audiences wherever they take to the stage.
“Taking just two weeks to nail this debut, something has evidently clicked in this line up. Somewhere between Muddy Waters and The Black Keys, this is an exciting sound.”
Classic Rock Magazine
The self-produced album took less than two weeks to make on a farm in Cornwall, UK. The band went into the sessions with the album half-written, spent the first few days getting tones and working together on the other ideas they had. All four members working together brought a fresh perspective to the writing process and together they took the songs places that no one member would have gone alone.

Jon says “It was very collaborative and very exciting, and that feeling carried over into the recording process which was live and spontaneous. We captured the songs in 3 or 4 takes, to keep everything fresh.”
Fresh from a BBC Radio 2 Live session recorded Spring 2012 at the legendary Maida Vale studios in London, the summer will see JABG play major blues festivals in Europe and here in the UK.
“The Black Keys meets early Rolling Stones. A prime night with one of the best blues bands of today.”
