I am a San Diego based artist and graduate researcher in the Visual Arts Department of UCSD.
The starting point for my work begins as writing or as a process of collecting. These initial gestures often mutate into works on paper or environmental paintings, sometimes animations and sound works.
The process of cut-out, which is employed in my works on paper and animations, employs collage not as pastiche but in a more recursive way, allowing for the form to reverberate, and introduce a system of relations generated by my involvement in between forms.
Often a combination of things observed, the graphic nature of my work organizes itself into a temporary image of my direct surroundings revealing a particular sense of place that comes from a synthesis of direct experience and reading.
