Javier Roberto Carlos was born in Guatemala City made his first documentary, El Puente, at the age of 22, which won him the Best of The Fest award at the San Francisco VideoFest. Since then, he has evolved to become award-winning filmmaker working in diverse genres ranging from experimental documentary to fiction narratives; Javier employs his curiosity about the world and his love of travel to make films that are visual representations of little-known realities and poignant documents of the human experience. In 2012, Javier traveled to Guatemala to film his latest documentary The Earth Did Not Speak, which follows the lives of remaining survivors of a massacre during the Guatemalan civil war 30 years ago.

In 2012, along with cinematographer Chris Tipton-King, he founded 32K Productions.
