Director Herbert James Winterstern (Jamie) brings a fresh, distinct approach to the art of filmmaking. Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Jamie was exposed to movies far beyond his years at an early age. What began as a late night hobby, watching Steven Spielberg’s classics including Schindler’s List with his father, quickly turned into a passion Jamie would pursue throughout his childhood and eventually cultivate into his career.

The stories and visuals from the classics he watched as a boy instilled a motivation in Jamie to create high quality, visually entertaining pictures, and at the age of 18, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue the craft of motion picture directing.

In 2003, Jamie began his undergraduate studies at Whittier College where he also kicked for the school’s NCAA football team. He transferred to Pepperdine University in 2004 to pursue a degree in Television Production. In 2005, Jamie won “Best Dramatic Short” at the Pepperdine University Film Festival for his film, High Society. Later that year, Jamie was accepted to the Critical Studies program at University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts. While attending USC, Jamie competed in NCAA track, running the 110m as well as the 400m hurdles. He graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in Critical Studies.

In 2008, Jamie’s acceptance into USC’s Cinematic Arts Graduate Production program allowed him to further develop his directing style into an art. After completing the first year of his masters program, Jamie was awarded the Thomas B. Bush Memorial Scholarship for excellence in cinematography and directing.

During the summer of 2009, Jamie wrote and directed a short film, Son of a Don, starring “24″ regular Carlo Rota. Industry executives have applauded Jamie for his fresh, unique approach to directing as seen in Son of a Don which is currently in development for a television series.
