Kanu Hawai‘i is a nonprofit organization building a grassroots movement for environmental sustainability, compassionate community, and local self-reliance rooted in island thinking and personal commitments to change. Kanu works to engage thousands of people across Hawai‘i in this effort – first through changes in their own lives, then through collective action. Kanu’s movement-building model relies on an innovative mix of community education, grassroots organizing and Web 2.0 technology to empower the movement’s members.
