    I used these special tacks that have a round head and two thin strips of flat metal that spread out and flatten down. They are common I just can't think what you would call them. I made a couple of giraffes a rhino and a few other things, but I never wnet very far with animating them, 3d stop motion is more my thing. A couple of girls I know from my home town do some exceptional cardboard stuff though, here is a link
