kowei
kowei is born on May 26th, 1984 in Taipei, Taiwan. kowei’s work is warm, imaginative, and has an almost babyish yet intriguing style; he is also constantly exploring new possibilities. kowei received undergraduate degree from the Department of Commercial Design at the Ming-chuan University, and is now a Masters student at the Institute of Fashion and Communications Design at Shih-chien University. He is a writer, illustrator, designer, lecturer, and also a model. His favorite sport is art, and his deepest belief is to always stay true to oneself. Inspired by chameleon, kowei is dedicated to creating artworks that showcase the spirit of “kowei” in diverse styles and forms.
kowei has created artworks and/or held lectures for Taiwan Designers' Week, Department of Information and Tourism in Taipei, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation ( Taipei Metro ), Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, Life Conservationist Association, Starbucks, Blockbuster, ELLE, Shiseido, Origins, Triumph, Rotary Club of Taipei, Frinem Fashion Enterprise, E.G.-Sain, MATSUSEI, Eslite Bookstore, Uni-President, Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program ( TELDAP ), and Audrey's Chocolate.
He has published 3 books, 《First Love Fairy Tale ~Toma & Choco~》 with Sharp Point Publishing Group, 《Miracles in a Masquerade》 and 《The Invisible Light》 with Locus Publishing Company. His book’s multi-faceted, included illustrations, literary novel, prose and comic. 《First Love Fairy Tale ~Toma & Choco~》 has ranked #4 on “Leisure Illustrated-book Ranking” from Taiwan’s biggest internet store Books.com.tw. 《The Invisible Light》has won the honor of “Selected Junior-high Must-read” from the Government Information Office of Taiwan. kowei has also won the most-popular award at the “X FUNS: 04-05 X-CUP Design Awards” in 2005.
kowei’s graduation exhibition titled 《TIME FLOW》 was held in 2006 at Shin-kong Mitsukoshi Mall. He has also exhibited his work in the “King Car Originality Exhibition” in 2009. In the same year, kowei collaborated with his fans all over the world from Taiwan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, U.S., and Germany, to jointly create the 5th anniversary Web exhibition titled 《hi! 5》 for his official website. In 2010, he has joined the “Outstanding Alumnus Art Exhibition of Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School” and “The Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2010” with Saffron Art Gallery. He has also exhibited his new work in the "“Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair 2011”, "Young Art Taipei 2011" and "GROUP Exhibition ( Saffron Art Gallery )". kowei has held a web channel named 《koko channel》, sharing life and amusing thoughts by short films. He’s one of the most versatile creators in the new generation. kowei is currently working on thesis of graduate school at his home in Taipei.
kowei,讀音「摳未」,5月26日生於台灣台北市,看著卡通與童話長大,著迷色彩與影像世界,作品風格以溫馨童趣、時尚奇幻為主,並持續開發多種可能。畢業於銘傳大學商業設計系,現就讀實踐大學時尚與媒體設計研究所,擁有作家、插畫家、設計師、演講者與模特兒等身份。畫圖撰文是最熱衷的運動,不失去自我是永遠的信念,期許創作路上是隻變色龍,用各種風格形式做出有自己味道的作品。
kowei 曾為數位典藏與數位學習國家型科技計畫、台灣設計師週、臺北市政府觀光傳播局、台北捷運公司、台北當代藝術館、台北雙溪扶輪社、關懷生命協會、統一星巴克、松青超市、ELLE、黛安芬、資生堂、品木宣言、新加坡奧力巧克力、一之鄉、誠品書店、百事達、弗列尼企業社等企業、報刊及學校繪製插畫、舉辦講座。
出版書籍有《初戀童話 ~Toma & Choco~》、《假面國的奇蹟》與《看不見的光》,畫風多變,體裁橫跨繪本、小說及漫畫,其中《初戀童話 ~Toma & Choco~》榮登博客來網路書店休閒圖文書類銷售榜TOP4,《看不見的光》獲選行政院新聞局第26次推介中小學優良課外讀物之國中類優良課外讀物。2005年參加《X FUNS:'04-'05 X-CUP Design Awards》封面設計入選並獲網路票選最佳人氣獎。
2006年大學畢業展《千代 TIME FLOW》於新光三越百貨展出;2009年參加展覽《2009金車夏末插畫祭》;同年集結台灣、中國、新加坡、馬來西亞、日本、美國、德國等地之網友,跨國聯合創作個人網站五週年紀念展覽《hi! 5》;2010年受邀參加《跨越世紀的美感 - 建中校友美展》與海外展《The Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2010》;2011年參加海外展《Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair 2011》、《Young Art Taipei 2011》與《當代萌想 - Saffron Art Gallery 藝術家聯展》,並於個人網站推出自製短片頻道《koko channel》,分享影像生活。現於台北家中進行論文之寫作,持續接案,挑戰圖像世界之可能性。
