LCCB was made an Honor Company of the Southwestern Regional Ballet Association, received the Stream Award in 1992 and was chosen to close the SWRBA Gala performance of the National RDA Festival at Jones Hall in Houston.

Most recently, LCCB has acted as a charter member of the Louisiana Alliance of Dance.

The most important achievement of LCCB has been the development of its successful youth performance series.

LCCB plays to over 25,000 Louisiana students each year.

The unique and successful LCCB youth performances are used as a pattern by directors throughout the nation.

The Lake Charles Civic Ballet was chartered October 2, 1968 and is governed by a board of directors.

The mission of the Lake Charles Civic Ballet is to provide the total theatre experience with an emphasis on classical dance training and performance in Louisiana, as a creative outlet for Louisiana choreographers, composers and artists, and as a means of building the audience for dance in our region. The official school of Lake Charles Civic Ballet, Lady Leah LaFargue School of the Dance has offered outstanding dance instruction for young dancers ages 3 through adult for over 50 years.

The goal of the Lake Charles Civic Ballet is to achieve total dance theatre by providing a place for experimentation in choreography, composition, and design with the objective of collaboration with other artistic groups and with individual artists in the fulfillment of this goal.
