We are a non-profit organisation that focuses on conservation through research and education.
The Large Marine Vertebrates Project or LAMAVE is the main project of Physalus, a non government (profit) organisation (NGO) founded in Italy. The NGO operates primarily for the protection of the environment through marine conservation initiatives. In 2010, Physalus started the Large Marine Vertebrates Project Philippines (LAMAVE) to conduct scientific research and raise environmental awareness in collaboration with government agencies, non-government organisations, universities and the private sector in the Philippines.
Our main work focuses on Whale Sharks, Ray Fisheries, Turtles and Cetaceans (particularly dolphins). The Philippines is a remarkable place and the Bohol Sea, where we are based is one of the richest seas in the world for these large marine vertebrates.
