Leandro Ferrão

Leandro Ferrão is one of the youngest members of the Portuguese Image Association (AIP). For the last years, while graduating in Cinema Studies, he has been gathering professional experience as director, cameraman, photographer and director of photography for many projects – from short-films to video-clips, documentaries and advertising campaigns. He already worked with DV, HDV, HD, HDCam, 16mm and 35mm cameras. One of his latest works as director was “Gnósis”, one of the ten short-films that will make part of the cinematic project for TV and Web “O DEZ”, produced by Leonel Vieira. However, his main ambition continues to be direction of photography. Thus, his latest work is more focused into that job. Some of his highlights are: the short-film “DEZbeta”, directed by André Braz and JB Mota, “Drops Of Soul” by NJ Silva, “4 Sentidos” by Susana Cerdeira; the brand-documentary “Heinz – Grown not Made” for Heinz International, directed by André Braz and JB Mota, and the documentary “Libertox” directed by Leandro Ferrão and Maria João Gonçalves. In advertising, “Meteorito” by NJ Silva, and “RULZ”, in 35mm, by Diogo Martins. He also did some institutional works for Microsoft Portugal and he recently worked as cameraman for an advertising campaign for Premiere magazine, by Portuguese director Jorge Paixão da Costa.
At the moment, he’s finishing his graduation in Cinema Studies at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, while he continues attending many workshops on cinematography – which we underline due to its relevance, inter alia, ‘HD Cinematography’ (AIP) by Louis-Philipe Capelle SBC, ‘Digital Cinematography’ by Media Program of the European Union (USC) and ‘Cinematography’ by Luís Branquinho.
