LEAST AMONG SAINTS marks MARTIN PAPAZIAN’S (Writer/Director/Actor) debut as a feature director and writer. Inspired by true events, the story centers on a man’s quest for redemption through his compassion and service to an orphaned boy. Recently completed, the filmmakers are on their quest for distribution.
Previously, Papazian directed the award winning short film IN THE WIND, about a soldier’s return to Katrina ravaged New Orleans only to discover the place he grew up in has collapsed in his absence. The film was awarded BEST PICTURE at both the New Orleans and Vail Film Festivals as well as being the official selection of numerous other festivals.
In the theater, Martin has directed a wide array of plays in Los Angeles. Notably, the Pulitzer Prize winning drama TOPDOG/UNDERDOG, THE EXONERATED, Eric Bogosian's POUNDING NAILS INTO THE FLOOR WITH MY FOREHEAD, Neil Labute's AUTOBAHN, and the one-woman-show YOU CAN EAT ME.
As a film actor, Papazian burst onto the screen in Universal Picture’s JARHEAD directed by Academy Award Winner Sam Mendes. He most recently acted opposite Charlize Theron in FOX Studios THE BURNING PLAIN, written and directed by Guierrmo Arriaga. He also appeared in DreamWorks’s THE ISLAND directed by Michael Bay and most recently in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN directed by Marc Webb. In television, Martin has appeared in numerous network shows. Notable credits include 24 (recurring), Lie to Me, CSI: NY, The Unit (dir. David Mamet), Without A Trace, N.C.I.S, Dexter, Supernatural, Monk and JAG. He has also performed supporting roles in a dozen films made for television.
Papazian earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing from the Arizona Reparatory Theater at the University of Arizona. He also spent a semester in London training with The British Academy of Dramatic Arts.
