Little Creatures collaborates with 3-10 year old children to produce imaginative live action films, all shot on location in various natural settings. The films include spontaneous interactions and poetic storytelling and narration, providing for parents a lens into the world of the imagination of the young child. We aim to present the human experience as beautiful and sacred and to portray children’s lives as interconnected with the natural world. After six years of teaching video art residencies within NYC public schools, in 2008 Kristin Eno established the Little Creatures film company with the goals of raising the quality of her work and distributing more widely to children and parents. Little Creatures needed a proof-of-concept, so Spirit Ship was born as a tangible illustration of Little Creatures’ mission and vision. The film presents an authentic look into the imaginative adventures of young children, a snapshot of children’s play in the outdoors, a glimpse into the mystery and nostalgia that is present within all of our memories of childhood, and a poetic window onto the beauty and power of real children’s original thoughts.
