Born storyteller Louis Paxton grew up in Edinburgh, weaned on cinema from an early age. As soon as he had the means to produce them, Louis made movies.
Genre film enthusiast Louis is committed to building a career as a writer and director of exciting and original comedy, action, horror, sci-fi and musical films. Louis has always been ambitious in terms of his vision.
Louis cut his teeth on several low-budget shorts, graduating with an honours degree from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RCS) in 2009. That year his graduation film, CHOREOMANIA won both the regional and national Best Undergraduate RTS Student Television Awards, and Best Student Film at the Celtic Media Festival. In 2010, Louis’ no- budget short, FOOL PROOF took the Jim Poole Audience Award.
Delighted to accept his place at the NFTS, Louis embarked on his Masters keen to develop and strengthen his visual storytelling skills via collaboration with fellow students and by taking advantage of the School’s extensive facilities to produce bigger, bolder films.
Louis is eager to secure representation for future fiction and commercial work. He is focussed on bridging the gap between short and feature filmmaking and to achieve this is currently developing a number of exciting new genre-splicing ideas to present to the industry.
