Katharine grew up just outside of beautiful and sunny Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University with a focus in studio art, communications and film. Shortly after, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a stage manager at Channel One News. She attended Columbia College Chicago where she graduated with a Masters in Fine Arts in Film and Video in 2009. She has taught in the film department at Columbia College Chicago between 2006-2010. Currently she teaches in the Digital Film and Video Department at AI - The Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago.
Presently, she is finishing her first feature length documentary called “The Burnt River Bulls". The film follows the lives of seven foreign exchange students that lived in rural Oregon from 2009-2010. It is a story that strives to see past cultural barriers, and builds a bridge between the differences that humans share.
Several of her award winning short films have screened both nationally and internationally.
