Matt Downton trained at LIPA (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts) and has appeared in both film and theatre internationally. His first feature length film 'Quanna' premiered at the BAFTA and his debut theatre role took him from performances in Manchester to off-Broadway, New York with the production 'The Ripper's 5' to positive reviews.
In early 2011, he was part of Kolectiv Theatre, the first theatre company to work at The Capstone Theatre, Liverpool in their production of 'The Glass Menagerie' as Jim. He was well received by the local media.
More recently he has been involved in several short films; Playing the lead role in 'Click' for Virgin Media shorts, and 'Brad' in The Elaborate End of Robert Ebb. He also lends his voice talent as narrator in the short film 'Liberation '44' a finalist in the Reed short film festival 2011.
2011 has been a busy year for Matt as he also appeared as Cpt. Charles Pickard in the episode 'Operation Jericho' in TV documentary series 'Narrow Escapes of WWII' and working on the feature film 'Private Peaceful' to be shown in cinemas 2012.
