This is my (D. Eric Franks) PERSONAL video page and is distinct from my PROFESSIONAL work at videopia.org.* These videos are for friends and family and are likely not very interesting to anyone else, but you are welcome to check them out!
I got my first video camera in 1991 (VHS-C), my first DV camera in 1997 (Sony PC7) and edited my first video in Ulead Media Studio Pro on a 300MHz computer shortly thereafter. My first hard disk was a 13GB SCSI Seagate Barracuda that cost $800, ran at 10,000RPM and sounded like a Cessna. The older videos here were shot from 1991 to 2000, while the newer stuff, is, well, newer.
* Why is this distinction important? Well, because I teach video production and the home videos on this page are generally appallingly amateur. I'm not apologizing for them and think they're great for what they are: home videos shot at the end of the last century with consumer gear and edited on 300MHz computers with 256MB of RAM. I'm not blaming the gear, entirely, and a whole host of bad techniques and poor artistic choices are also on display. Still, I love these videos, and if you are family or friend, you probably will too!
