MCGRORY

I am looking to a separate render machine in the studio. Now budget is very tight at the moment, up to around the £500 mark. I've had a few suggestions include an old G5 2.3 and add 16gb ram. I understand I can't run the latest software versions on this. But as long as I run CS4 suite etc I will cope.. Comes in around £430 complete. Others have said buy a new mac mini, but I won't be able to add any ram. Looking at £550 ish for this. I would love an intel mac pro but the budget just isn't there right now. Any advice would be appreciated

thanks guys, yeah I can't seem to get away from the draw of the full frame. I used to shoot on a mark 1 5D before I went up to the 1 series. I don't really like the though of going back to a crop of my backup body. Any news of when we will hear about the mark 3 or at least a nice price drop on the mark 2. Think I may wait until I hear something concrete and keep using a colleagues 7D in the mean time

Oh can you recommend any, steady cam or rig setups that would suit. Again not looking for 5k high end pro systems but something that won't fall apart on my first shoot.
