I've been making Stereo 3D shorts for science education outreach, but have found that venue too restrictive for good storytelling.
Good movies are mythos. Their truth is not the truth of fact but the truth of feeling. You can know yourself and your times through exploring mythos. However, you can absorb all the facts your brain can possibly hold and still know nothing.
Consider this: Which would you rather hear, a good joke well told that takes surreal liberties with the way the world really works, or an absolutely verifiable, curriculum correct ledger of factoids arranged in chronological order?
What? Boredom doesn't appeal to you?
Me, I'd rather laugh. Or cry. Or feel aroused to desire, anger, dismay, or dreaming. A good story can do all of that. A good story can Make People Care.
There's more than enough facts in this world, pick and choose whatever appeals to you.
There's not nearly enough caring, and you can't choose what you care about, care chooses you, invading your conscience via a good story.
