Melissa J White studied screenwriting with Kirk Ellis and Tom Musca at the New Mexico Filmmakers Intensive in 2008 and has produced two short films, "Wastewater", and "Mixing." Melissa won First Place in the short screenplay contest at the Rhode Island International Film Festival for "ID" in 2008 and placed in the Quarter Finals of the Page International Screenwriting Competition for her feature screenplay, "Goethe's Theory of Color" in 2010.
Melissa has worked in the New Mexico film industry as an assistant production office coordinator, script supervisor, production secretary and graphic artist.
She is the owner of Whitespace Creative, LLC, a communication design studio specializing in Web design, marketing and Minibrandng™. She is also the owner of BlogshopWorld.com, and presents classes and workshops on blogging and blog design.
Melissa graduated from St. John’s College and was awarded the Henry Austin Prize for Poetry for her poem, “Zafu.” Her reviews, interviews, poetry and fiction have been published in Whole Earth Review, THE magazine, Indian Artist magazine, the Santa Fe Reporter, Crosswinds, Fish Drum and Noctiluca—an English language magazine from Japan—among others. Her novel Dizzy Sushi, based on her year teaching English conversation in Japan, won a Recursos de Santa Fe Discovery prize and has been accepted for publication by Tres Chicas Books. Her novella, "Angel Someone", was published for Kindle in 2010.
Melissa was a founding member and past president of Intermezzo of the Santa Fe Opera and served on the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission as chair of the marketing committee from 2007-2010.
Melissa has made Santa Fe, NM, her home since 1981, with her husband and three incredible kids.
