Producer and Director Michael Gleissner is a distinctive executive in today's business of entertainment. From producing award-winning films to spearheading breakthroughs, Gleissner is making his mark in the international film market.
Gleissner made his directorial debut in 2005 with Irreversi, which stars Mei Melançon, Ian Bohen, Kenny Doughty and Estella Warren. With Irreversi, Gleissner made a breakthrough as he shot the film in both English and Mandarin with two sets of cast and crew. This was to best serve the Chinese-speaking majority, instead of merely dubbing or sub-titling. Irreversi and its Mandarin counterpart, Hui Lu (Margaret Wang, Hawick Hau-Wai Lau, Sasha Hou, Qin Hao) are set for release in late 2007.
Prior to Irreversi, Gleissner had Produced several acclaimed television shows and feature films. He served as Co-Executive Producer in 2002 on the film The Dogwalker, awarded by the Cinequest Film Fest as Best First Feature. In 2005, he was Executive Producer of the TV Series Nautical Angels, a travel show set aboard a luxury yacht and captained by three beautiful woman docking at various exotic ports around the world.
Also in 2005, Gleissner Executive Produced the feature film 3 Needles, a three-paneled look on the worldwide AIDS crisis starring Lucy Liu, Sandra Oh, Chloe Sevigny. 3 Needles opened in several major US cities in December 1, 2006 - in conjunction with World AIDS Day - and has gone on to receive critical acclaim.
Gleissner continued Executive Producing in 2006 with USS Cooper: Return to Ormoc Bay, the romantic comedy Falling For Grace and, the award-winning teen comedy The Curiosity of Chance. USS Cooper: Return to Ormoc Bay is the documentary on Rob Lalumiere's record-breaking 193-meter dive to place a memorial plaque a battleship that was torpedoed during World War II. In Falling for Grace, the Chinese American Grace (played by Fay Ann Lee) is mistaken for a Hong Kong heiress at a socialite event, where she also meets her Prince Charming. The teen comedy The Curiosity of Chance has bagged several awards. Among these awards are Best New Director (2006 Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Fest) and Best of the Fest (2007 Palm Springs Int'l Film Fest).
This year (2007), Gleissner was Executive Producer on the feature film Shanghai Kiss, the dual-language Irreversi/Hui Lu, and the supernatural thriller Within.
Gleissner has just completed his third directing venture - of which he is also Producer - the action thriller Deep Gold. Set in Cebu, Philippines, Deep Gold features Vietnamese supermodel and actress Bebe Pham, Singaporean actress and television host Jaymee Ong, and Amercian model Laury Prudent. Deep Gold is set for international release in 2008.
