DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Michal Dabal was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland. After graduating from Warsaw Film School and relocating to Los Angeles, he became a cinematography fellow at the American Film Institute Conservatory.
During his studies in Poland, he directed and photographed the short film "PRALNIA". The film earned numerous awards at national and international festivals for Best Cinematography.
Michal's camera work on AFI's "MY FIRST CLAIRE" (dir Lou Howe), has earned him the William A. Fraker Heritage Award Honorable Mention for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography at the 25th Annual ASC Awards. The movie has been also appraised by the Academy of Motion Pictures and nominated for the Student OSCAR.
Immediately following his graduation Michal was selected to be the DP on the independent feature film “NEW YORK HEARTBEAT” - an epic gangster period piece starring Eric Roberts, directed by Tjardus Greidanus.
His other credits include in the narrative field include a PBS-produced episode of "FUTURESTATES", directed by Robby Henson.
After this Michal lensed many commercial spots for well known brands such as Samsung, Mercedes, Johnson&Johnson, Chanel, Wallgreens (dir Mike Bernstein) and high profile fashion and beauty campaigns featuring super models like Cara Delevingne, Sasha Pivovarova, Julia Stegner,Magdalena Frackowiak and many others.
