Mida Chu is a director, cinematographer, composer, and tonmeister. Born in Suzhou, China, Mida enrolled in Interlochen Arts Academy in 2010. For the past four years, he has made more than 20 short films in various lengths. He is a 2014 National YoungArts Winner. Screened at New World Center in Miami and National National Film Festival for Talented Youth, his Silent Film Trilogy, has brought him national recognition with silver key in Scholastic Art and Writing competition. Among the three short films in the Trilogy, Burning was recently screened at Los Angeles Film Festival. Wait in Silence, co-written and co-directed with Kira Bursky in 2012, was screened at Nashville Film Festival, Unofficial Google+ Film Festival, Santa Monica Teen Film Festival, and a number of film festivals. Mida is also a professional tonmeister. During his years at Interlochen Arts Academy, he recorded and edited more than 50 recitals and audition tapes. His passion with music led him to many multimedia collaborations. Recently, He developed a multimedia woodwind ensemble project “Color of My Mind” with the award-winning composer Angel Lam, a collaborator of Osvaldo Golijov, Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble. In the coming summer of 2014, he will join the Unexpected Laboratory theater company for media design in the original show “Surrounded”, which will be touring in Chicago and Winnipeg Canada.
