MIE OLISE BIO.
Danish Artist living in Copenhagen and New York.

Working as a painter, constructor and filmmaker Olise has developed a particular blend of architecture, art, and psychology. She works with narratives relating to space, abandoned places and desolate structures. Olise travels to these places in different states of disrepair, like a Russian abandoned ghost town by the Arctic Circle, to research, collect stories and later subjectively develop particular layers of the found truths. Concept determines the media in her practice.

After graduating her MFA from Central St. Martins, London in 2007 Olise has been traveling on residencies to Iceland, Berlin and Maine/Skowhegan currently she is doing a residency at The ISCP in New York, planning to stay in the city permanently.

Olise recently had her 2nd solo show at Barbara Davis Gallery in Houston TX and a solo show at SNYK, Skive New Museum of Art, DK.
She was a finalist in the Saatchi competition “4 New Sensations” in London, has exhibited at the 10th Istanbul Biennale and John Moores Painting25th Prize at The Livepool Biennale.
