Yes its pretty strenuous on feature length edits, but short 5min vids arent bad, I edit with a Imac 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo from about 2 years old. 2 gb memory. Does fine, the rendered clips are huge! so i export to an external hard drive. No problems yet , ( Knock on wood )

no the Zeiss is a prime lens which means it has a fixed focal lenth, whicch means it cant zoom, but fixed focal lengths have a better picture quality than zooms, but you can zoom in with your camera itself so you have options. I hear you can get pretty good results with zoom lens's but I dont own any, I really recommend getting a DoF picture quality is outstanding and if you get a quality lens the pictures is amazingly sharp. Dont feel like a noob i was new to all this about 5 monthes ago too, and still learning.
