It varies. I typically shoot a number of takes in one clip and then edit out what I don't want. I use Final Cut Pro for all of my editing. If you are considering a t1i, know that it only supports 30 frames per second in 720p mode. 1080p mode is only 20 frames per second, which is not typically enough for fluid motion. Also, you will have no manual controls in video mode. If you want the full range of resolutions, frame rates, and manual video controls, you need to look at the Canon 7D. Good luck!
