BUSKRS.com for my subway series
Brooklyn based artist and media professional, originally from Portland, Oregon. Recently completed a research fellowship at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program where I also received my Master's degree. While at ITP my focus was on spatial audio and experimental video design. My thesis project, SoundStage, was selected by the jury as the "Best Project" out of more than 500 participating artists at the 2011 Dumbo Arts Festival. SoundStage is an interactive table that allows children to mix 3D audio by moving objects on the surface. While completing his fellowship, I began experimenting with surround sound recording of subway musicians. The performances are recorded with 8 channels of audio and mixed in 5.1 surround sound before being encoded into binaural audio for headphone reproduction. Currently working on audio for the 9/11 Museum and have recorded over 100 interviews with politicians, first responders, survivors, family members, journalists, academics and others connected to the event as well as edited oral histories and archival recordings for the museum.
