Nate Robinson began studying the violin at the age of 5. At the age of 11 he made his solo debut with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1 and was subsequently invited once again to perform with the orchestra two years later. At the age of 12, as winner of the Manhattan School of Music Concerto Competition, Nate Robinson performed Beethoven's Romance in F and Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen as soloist with the MSM Philharmonic. Nate Robinson has also appeared as guest soloist with various orchestras and ensembles across the United States and abroad.
As a recitalist, Nate Robinson has appeared in performance at such venues as New York City's Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. In the winter of 2005 Nate Robinson performed a memorial tribute recital at the PNC Bank Recital Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania dedicated to the memory of the late President of Carnegie Hall, Robert Harth. Past performances also include concert appearances in Los Angeles, California sponsored by the Hennings Fischer Foundation at Zipper Hall of the Colburn School, California State University in Los Angeles, the Texas Festival Institute at Round Top, in addition to performances throughout Europe, Canada, and the Far East. Nate Robinson's performance of the Vitali Chaconne was broadcasted on the Bravo Network across Canada in the summer of 1996. He was also featured in a story on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) television network.
As a recording artist, Nate Robinson has performed on many Hollywood motion picture soundtracks for films produced by Paramount Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Disney working with such film composers as Rolfe Kent (Legally Blonde, Wedding Crashers), George Fenton (Groundhog Day, You've Got Mail), Carter Burwell, and Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Last Mimzy, Doubt) among others.
In 2010 and 2011, Nate collaborated in performances with rock singer Sting for his 2010-2011 tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. In 2010, Nate Robinson was also a featured on screen violinist in the movie 'Sex and The City 2'.
Nate Robinson studied at the Manhattan School of Music and Yale University, where his teachers included Erick Friedman, the renowned violinist and protégé of Jascha Heifetz.
Nate Robinson has performed on both modern and antique violins, including the ex-Michael Rabin made by Andrea Amati, crafted in 1560, and a violin by Phillip Injeian, made in 2004.
