Subashini Ganesan, artistic director, and founder of Natya Leela Academy, choreographs to express the universal emotional depths present in her form, Bharathanatyam (South Indian Classical Dance). Her teachers are Shri and Shrimathi Bhaskar (Singapore) and spent over 30 years performing and eventually teaching this art-form. Her traditional works include pieces on the Hindu Tara, the life of Arjuna and his receiving the Bhagavad Gita, and the life of Krishna. In her collaborative life, she is a Resident Artist with Young Audiences Oregon and the Right Brain Initiative. Two time recipient of the prestigious Regional Arts and Culture Council Individual Project Grants, her work has been showcased at Ten Tiny Dances, Portland Children's Museum, local fundraiser events (including the Metropolitan Family Services, Young Audiences), and NW Folk Life Festival. She is presently working on two performances that will be showcased in May 2013 and November 2013.
