Paris Legakis was born in 1981, Athens, Greece. Currently, he studies in the MA course of Performance Studies, in NYU, Tisch, 2013-14. He won the Fulbright Scholarship in 2014. He finished with honors his MFA in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies, in the Bauhaus - University Weimar (2010-12). He graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 2009 with honors. In 2008, he studied in the University of Lisbon, Portugal, as an exchange student with the Socrates Erasmus Scholarship. In 2010, he received a scholarship from the institution of Panayioti and Efi Micheli Foundation and in 2011 he was honorably mentioned in the Unbau Competition of Weltecho, Chemnitz, Germany. He was a grand holder for the marathon camp ‘Truth is Concrete’ in Graz, Austria, 2012. He performed in the dance-theater play 'Providurium' which was nominated in the Avant-Art Thuringen Theater Festival, 2012. In March 2013 he was in the residency program of Incheon Art Platform in South Korea, while he was invited to Honguen Seoul Art Space residency program. He participated in R.I.C.E. The Choreography of Humans residency in Hydra and he was selected for the parallel program of the 3rd Thessaloniki Performance Biennale, 'Artivists for Change', Greece, 2013.
Paris Legakis integrates diverse disciplines within his work, from scenography and performance to architecture and anthropology. Currently, he researches the social borders and the theatricality in everyday life. Participation, vivid interaction and structured ambivalence are some of his main approximations towards these problematics.
