Nicholas Brown

Artist-composer and writer, Nicholas Brown (UK, 1974) makes musical works/works about music using various forms of expression, including theatre/performance art, video, installation, creative writing and book-making. He has also written an extensive body of concert and film music that has featured in international festivals, including Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the BBC Promenade Concerts, Haarlem Koorbiënnale (NL), Oxford Contemporary Music and the UK-with-NY festival of British culture in New York. He is frequently active as a performer and has conducted his music at venues such as Lincoln Center (New York), The National Gallery (Washington, D.C.) & London's Barbican Centre; performed as a pianist at Wigmore Hall and as performance artist at venues including Kings Place and Riverside Studios in London. As a writer, he has published articles on the philosophy of music, particularly theories of music & embodiment, and given talks and lectures on the value of artistic expression in the context of daily life.
