Artist, director, animator, and producer, Nikolay Todorov was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. After graduating from Sofia's best Art School, he studies at VGIK (The Russian Cinematography Institute, Moscow) in the class of Ivan Petrovich Ivanov-Vano.
Director of over 30 films, Nikolay is a multiple award winner at a number of national and international film festivals in Annecy, Ottawa, Cannes, Lil, Oberhausen, Espino, Moscow, Krakow, Hiroshima, Berlin, Varna, etc. He was a member of the international jury at all of these festivals and had exhibitions at some of them in solo or together with his colleague and friend Anri Kulev.
His film "Sunday" was bought by The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York, where in 1998 his works were personally presented.
From 1979 to 1987 Nikolay worked at the National Animation Studio "Sofia" as a director, art-director, and animator. Later, he greatly contributed as an animation and art director for the development of TV productions by Hessen in Frankfurt, Germany and ZDF-studio NFP.
Since 1991 Nikolay successfully runs his own art-design and film production company "Club NO-Nikolay Todorov."
"The Nightmare" is Nikolay's latest film, where he is the producer, director, designer, animator and the script writer together with Ivan Kulekov. To sum it up, Nikolay Todorov created "The Nightmare" pretty much all by himself.
