Northeast Historic Film collects, preserves, and shares northern New England's moving image heritage. We safeguard film and video of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts — and coverage of the world from New England people. The original film or video is always the best quality. Cold and dry storage for archival originals is essential.
Online access allows people to connect with the archives.
NHF is a publicly supported nonprofit organization. We are located in the 1916 Alamo Theatre on Main Street in Bucksport, Maine. We built a three-story cold storage building for our 10 million+ feet of film. We host a public study center and a 140-seat theater screening Archival Moments before every show. In July we host a Film Symposium.
We enjoy the support of 400+ members. Please explore our collections and help save moving images for educational and public use.
