NoStringsUS works to make our world a safer, healthier and better place for its more vulnerable children and their communities.
We do this through making puppet films, envisioned and created by two of the original core members of The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock and Between the Lions. These films are shown to children and community groups in the developing world, by local teachers and outreach workers involved in life-saving educational initiatives.
To date, issues covered include disasters and climate change, health, gender, peace-building, awareness and aids. We have created programing for many countries, including the Philippines, Afghanistan, Africa, Myanmar and most recently, Haiti.
Dubbed into local languages, our films provide a gentle, fun and memorable entry point to lessons clustered around difficult, but critical issues. The films are a highly stimulating and effective means of paving the way for careful discussion and role playing activities about sensitive issues. We often send our professional puppeteers to work alongside the teachers and children who are using our films.
NoStringsUS is a not-for-profit (501C 3) organization. Our films are written and produced in New York City. All our scripts are informed by local experts in the developing world. Our programs have been embraced by non governmental organizations and their partners, including Trocaire, Oxfam, World Vision, the International Organization for Migration and Catholic Relief Services.
