Magdalena Albizu is the writer, director and producer of the documentary film NEGRITA.
As one of the founders of Mezcla Media Market, Magdalena created the Long Island Latino International Film Festival (LILIFF) in 2004 as a platform for Latino filmmakers to showcase their work to the Long Island community. Since 2005 she has worked in film and television productions, such as: MTV Music Awards, I am Legend, Memphis on the big screen, 50 cent Power and Money and PBS. She currently works in production at Spike TV on various projects: All Access Weekly, Madden 2011 Battlefield, Spare Time, Playbook, Weekend Pre-Game. Magdalena is the former president of the NY Chapter of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) and continues to give back to her community by being actively involved in her church's video ministry.
Born on Long Island to Dominican parents, she attended the University of Florida where she received her BA in Sociology. Her passions are social issues, counseling, documentaries and creating narratives.
