OHO Media
Our film collective, OHO Media, borrows the word “OHO” from the Thai language. OHO is an expression commonly used to convey wonder. It's comparable to the words "wow" or "aha" in English. OHO Media is a growing documentary production company that seeks to make films that emerge from the transcendent moments in everyday living (the moments that “wow” us). We are most passionate about finding the ephemeral stories that are often overlooked. Our logo, an H in the middle of a circle, is the breath of insight that emerges unexpectedly from an unknown origin. We are currently working on "The Lost and Found Series," which is comprised of five documentary films, each under fifteen minutes, exploring what it means to lose something and what we can potentially gain from finding it again. Among the films are stories about the vanishing of an entire town in Southern Utah, the daily life of a trash collector who lives in a train yard slum, a misplaced Thai cowboy trying to live the American dream, and a man constructing an elaborate art installation of heaven, earth and hell, from steel, concrete, glass and painted violins, in a gutted warehouse.
The first film in the series, ‘Tarkio Balloon,’ was an official selection at the 2011 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, featured in their ‘American Spectrum: Films of the American Experience’ program. You can stream ‘Tarkio Balloon’ online! The four other films are currently in production. When I was eight years old, I found a dusty typewriter in my grandfather’s basement, taught myself how to type, and wrote my first story. Since that day, my natural urge to communicate has led me to a string of diverse, but connected areas in storytelling. My feature documentary film, The Sonosopher: Alex Caldiero in Life…in Sound, premiered at Cinequest International Film Festival and received distribution through Dream Garden Press. I have directed and produced several short and feature documentaries that have screened at film festivals, received glowing reviews, generated community buzz and been selected for distribution. I was also recently a member of the design team for the Reinvention Summit, the world’s first virtual conference on storytelling.

I am passionate about telling good stories. Whether filming subjects, writing narration, or in the editing room, I use my expertise to show compelling human moments. I studied documentary filmmaking in the Brigham Young University Media Arts program and have since specialized in creating documentaries and television series. As a producer, writer and director I have developed concepts, supervised edits, wrote scripts and narration, produced and directed in the United States and Asia. My projects have received artistic merits and positive reviews. My films and documentaries have been selected for international film festivals, won awards and received distribution.

I am a curious artist with a background and education in music, philosophy, film and literature. I blend these varied interests and experiences together in my filmmaking and storytelling. This diversity allows me to flexibly approach, capture and present my subjects with a wide range of perspectives and methods. I seek out stories which are grounded in the everyday, but also reveal obscure layers of meaning and emotion, illuminating the enigmatic aspects of our shared human experience. This approach is embodied in my first feature-length documentary, The Sonosopher: Alex Caldiero in Life…in Sound, and is the guiding principle behind my current work with the films in OHO Media’s Lost and Found Series.

OHO Media commented on Ken Burns: On Story by Redglass Pictures I can't WAIT for future installments of this series. Loved the interview in The Atlantic and I am intensely interested in the mechanics of storytelling.
