I've never rated a movie before but here goes: a funny, entertaining, true slice of (ginger) life experience, with both sad and hopeful moments. I truly enjoyed this film. Scott does a good job of showing us the awkwardness and feelings of inadequacy that everyone feels at some point in their lives - but he does so from the point of view of a redhead and what it's like to grow up as a redhead. If nothing else, gingers tend to stand out whether we want to or not, as it's hard to be a redhead and be inconspicuous. I think part of our shared experience is we can be criticized by strangers simply for our appearance, and yet we too often are quietly critical of other redheads ourselves! Some are beautiful. Others are not -- which begs the question in my mind at least, which category do I fall into? This could also be a universal theme. On a more personal note, I saw the title and trailer to this movie and bought it immediately because as a redhead, I've had ambivalent feelings all my life -- towards myself and other redheads. Sometimes I'm grateful for being unique, and other times I feel I'm as ugly as some redheads I've seen. Am I as beautiful as the little mermaid or am I that dorky ugly redheaded kid? Truth is, I am both; we all are both beautiful and ugly, and insecure and confident, at various times. Perhaps that is an obvious statement, but Scott shows us through his film the humanity of this dichotomy, both in ourselves and in others -- of feeling both confident and horrified at various times. I truly like how real this movie is, about topics particularly focused on redheads yet universal in many ways too. I do think there is something unique and peculiar about redheads and how we grow up and relate to others in this world, wherever we are. Lastly, I think a true sense of belonging is what Scott and all of us are looking for when we look for our mate. There must be something to this ginger peculiarity since South Park even made an episode about ginger-hating. However, I believe there are larger universal themes here for everyone, but that being said, if you are a ginger, or ginger-curious, you will probably enjoy the film that much more. Well worth seeing!

This was really enjoyable to watch. I was so astonished at people's reaction to red heads. I did know some people didn't care for it but not to this level. I can't wait for his next journey, this was funny and enlightening and for the record, I think he's adorable.

As a ginger I had to watch it! I like the humor in it, but what makes it a really great documentary, is how real and honest Scott is. It speaks to everyone, about much more than just red hair.

As a ginger I feel like this is a must watch for gingers and non-gingers alike!
