A very thought provoking film, only in Hartlepool! Well done Neil.

SSSSS

A brilliant snapshot of a temporary and precarious world within a harsh and unforgiving world. Sadness, laughter, social ineptitude, coping, self fulfilling prophecies, stigma, longing, and the juxtaposition of consuming what will eventually kill you in order to build something to satisfy an unknown need, to escape, and to be remembered by, is at once brave, stupid and thought provoking. Brilliant work, thanks for capturing this priceless bit of social history.

Direct, honest and entertaining filmmaking at it's best. Not only do I feel like I've spent the last hour in the Can House, but I've come to know and love the characters drawn towards it's aluminium walls. Top stuff.

My work has been described as “film from somewhere that’s fallen off the edge of the map, from a place as far from the centre of English society and culture as it’s possible to go, economically, socially and spiritually - as close to the edges and ends of England as it gets”.

Work

PIG THE DOG, A Film Made for Channel 4's short form strand 'Random Acts' The film was broadcast on 12/12/2013 and has been exhibited in the BALTIC. The film is now here as a vimeo staff pick.

“Another England” is a cycle of four films exploring a town on the edges of English society. It is a meditiation on this marginal, sometimes otherworldly place, and the characters that haunt it.

What does it mean to belong to somewhere? The four films explore different aspects of the complexity of belonging. The films will be available here from 1/11/13

Strange Cargo,Dreaming the city for BBC Radio 4, Made for Somethinelse productions and was broadcast June 2013

My first film 'Can House' continues to be screened and has shown in Galleries and festival and one off features nationally and internationally.
