EARTHWORK
Academy Award® Nominee John Hawkes stars as Stan Herd, the real-life crop artist who risked everything to travel from Kansas to New York City to create a massive environmental artwork on land owned by Donald Trump in 1994.
Stan recruited a number of homeless individuals living in the nearby tunnel as his crew. Over the months it took to complete the earthwork, Stan dealt with the difficulties of bringing his large scale, rural art form to an urban canvas and the many costs it exacted upon his life. In an effort to share his unique perspective with a larger audience, Stan unexpectedly encounters the the true meaning of his art and its ultimate lasting rewards.
In addition to numerous Best Feature Film & Audience Awards, EARTHWORK also received awards for Best Debut Feature Film, Best Actor (John Hawkes), Best Cinematography, as well as the Audience Award and Special Jury Prize for Excellence in Opening Title Design @ the 2010 SXSW Film Festival.

Thrilled to see EARTHWORK for rent on here. I have been a John Hawkes fan since Me, You and Everyone We Know, so I had to check out this film to see him in his first lead role...and he did not disappoint. Beyond Hawkes' performance, the film as a whole is great and I would recommend it to anyone. The story, characters and performances are all nuanced and layered and the movie itself provides a welcome break from the "look at me now" style of most indies these days. The great cast includes Zach Grenier and James McDaniel. Chris Ordal has complete mastery of the material and tells the story Stan Herd in a compelling and unique way. Ordal is clearly a director to watch moving forward.

It's a great Indy film and impressively stars John Hawkes. It's crazy what this midwest farmer did and even crazier how the filmmaker managed to bring this special story to life! Chris Ordal has put together a great film.
