Out of Africa: Quest for the Northern Lights can be summed up in 3 words; Africa's checkered history. I embarked on this project with two things in mind, travel around the magical island of Iceland and finding at least one Northern Lights shower; we accomplished that. I also wanted to explore the contrasting fortunes of the early pioneers and settlers on this very young island and modern day Africans, we hope we also accomplished that with this film.
In order to adequately tell Africa's side of the story, we had to go back some 500 years detailing the turning points that we believe sealed the fate as it were, of today's African. Out of Africa: Quest for the Northern Lights, is the first feature film to chronicle 500 years of African history under a single film, taking us through some of Africa's more unforgettable events from the 15th to 21st Century.
At the end of the day, we hope to have shown the viewer, a side of Africa they would never have known. This is the overriding aim of the film.
